Privacy Statement

Verband Region Stuttgart (public law corporation, KöR), represented by the acting Regional Director (Kronenstr. 25, 70174 Stuttgart), takes the protection of your personal data very seriously and adheres strictly to all applicable data privacy laws and provisions, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the TMG [“Telemediengesetz”: German Tele Media Act], the BDSG [“Bundesdatenschutzgesetz”: German Federal Data Protection Act] and the LDSG [“Landesdatenschutzgesetz”: State Data Protection Act]. The following explanations provide you with an overview of how such protection is ensured and the purposes for which data is processed.  

1) Usage data

Each time you access the Verband Region Stuttgart website or a file, general data regarding this action are stored automatically in a log file. The data are stored solely for system-related and statistical purposes (Article 6 No. 1 (b) GDPR), as well as in exceptional cases to report criminal offences (Article 6 No. 1 (e) GDPR).

The data are not passed on to third parties or otherwise evaluated unless there is a statutory obligation to do so (Article 6 No. 1 (e) GDPR).

In detail, the following data record is stored on our servers in Germany each time the website or a file is accessed:

  • IP address
  • Provider name
  • Originating site
  • Sites visited
  • Duration of visit
  • Browser used
  • Plugins installed
  • Date and time
  • Data volume transferred
  • Operating system

2) Personal data

In addition to general internet address data (e.g. IP address), our services may require the disclosure of personal data, such as name and address. However, these data are provided voluntarily.

We process personal data only when permitted by law or when you have granted your consent (e.g. by voluntary data entry). Your data will not be passed on to third parties or processed for any other purpose than that stated when collecting the data, or not without your express consent.

We wish to point out that data transfer via the internet is not always secure and that these personal details may therefore be intercepted or tampered with.

In detail:

a. Contact 

When you get in contact with us, we store the data you provide based on Article 6 No. 1 (b) GDPR for the purpose of processing your enquiry and in case further correspondence is needed.

b. Applications 

We look forward to your paper-based application. Please observe the additional provisions on data protection, erasure time limits and processed data under Job applications (www.region-stuttgart.org/stellenangebote[TR1] ) 

c. Magazines

We are happy to use our publications (RS magazine, S-Bahn magazine) to keep you up to date on current developments in the region and on the work of Verband Region Stuttgart. We need your name and address as well as your e-mail address to send the magazines.

We will process your data exclusively for the purpose of sending the magazines. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 No. 1 (b) GDPR. You can unsubscribe at any time and thus object to the further use of your data.

3) Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on the hard drive of a visitor to a website to increase user friendliness. While it is possible to use our offering without cookies, it may not be possible to use all of the functions.

The Verband Region Stuttgart website uses a cookie from Matomo (previously known as “Piwik”) to record statistical data. Matomo (https://matomo.org/) is an open source software used to analyse visits to our own website. The information generated by the cookie regarding the use of this website is stored on our servers in Germany and is not passed on to third parties. Your IP address is anonymised immediately after processing and prior to storage.

Most browsers are set to accept cookies automatically. However, you can choose browser settings to notify you when cookies are sent so that you can accept or reject the cookies in individual cases and delete existing cookies.  

Cookies do not allow a server to read private data from your computer or the data filed by another server. They do not damage your computer and do not contain any viruses.

We base the use of cookies on Article 6 No. 1 (f) GDPR: processing is carried out to improve the functioning of our website. It is therefore necessary to protect our legitimate interests. 

4) Storage duration

Your data will be stored only for as long as is necessary for the respective purpose and to comply with statutory obligations.

5) Rights of data subjects

a. Right of access

You have the right to obtain confirmation from us on whether personal data relating to you are being processed.

b. Rectification / Erasure / Restriction of processing

You also have the right to require us to

  • rectify immediately any inaccurate personal data relating to you (right to rectification);
  • erase immediately any personal data relating to you (right to erasure) and
  • restrict processing (right to restriction of processing).

c. Right to data portability

You have the right to receive personal data relating to you that you have provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and to transmit those data to another controller.

d. Right of revocation

You have the right to revoke your consent at any time. Revocation of consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before consent was revoked.

e. Right to object

If your personal data are processed for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest (Article 6 No. 1 (e) GDPR) or to protect our legitimate interests (Article 6 No. 1 (f) GDPR), you have the right to object.

f. Right to lodge a complaint

Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you consider that the processing of personal data relating to you infringes the GDPR. The supervisory authority responsible is the state officer for data protection and freedom of information (‘Landesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg’) with headquarters in Stuttgart.

7) Security

We use state-of-the-art internet technologies for the security of your data. Your details are secured using SSL encryption during the online request process. For secure storage of your data, our systems are protected by firewalls that prevent unauthorised third-party access.

8) Deactivating statistical analysis

Here you can decide whether a cookie clearly used for web analysis can be stored in your browser in order to allow the website host to record and analyse various statistical data.
