2043 Federal Horticultural Show
Fifty years after the groundbreaking 1993 International Horticultural Exhibition (IGA 93), which also served as the Federal Horticultural Show, the Stuttgart region could once again host a Federal Horticultural Show (BUGA)—this time in collaboration with the neighboring cities of Stuttgart, Esslingen, and Ludwigsburg, as well as the Stuttgart Region Association (VRS).
A feasibility study forms the basis for the first step toward BUGA2043. A planning team for this study has now been selected, comprising Koeber Landschaftsarchitektur, asp Architekten GmbH, Geitz und Partner GbR, and Agency Apero GbR. These planning firms impressed the expert jury and prevailed in a two-phase pitch process against four other applicant teams with expertise in urban development, landscape architecture, ecology, water management, and participatory planning. The feasibility study for a BUGA is less a finished plan and more the kickoff of a long-term process: a catalyst that, over the course of 17 years, asks the right questions to develop a viable concept step by step. In a time of uncertainty regarding social and economic developments, the strength of this process lies in iterative dialogue—working together with the business community, civil society, citizens, and local and regional policymakers to find answers and unlock development potential.
More information on the awarding of the feasibility study is available in the press release.
